Phase 1 Governance
Giza Protocol's governance begins with Phase 1, a bootstrapping phase that balances efficiency with community input. During this phase, the protocol establishes product-market fit and security while laying the groundwork for robust governance processes.
Security Council Responsibilities
During Phase 1, a multi-signature Security Council serves as the primary governance mechanism with the following responsibilities:
- Execute parameter changes overseen through community voting.
- Oversee emergency security responses and protocol pauses if needed.
- Implement technical upgrades following thorough testing and auditing.
- Progress the protocol improvements toward greater decentralization.
The Security Council consists of 7 members with diverse technical and operational expertise, requiring a 5-of-7 threshold for execution, ensuring no single member can unilaterally control the protocol.
Community Input Process
While the Security Council holds execution authority during Phase 1, the community maintains significant input through a structured process:
- Forum Discussions: All governance proposals begin with discussions on the Giza community forum.
- Snapshot Voting: Formal off-chain voting occurs through Snapshot, where staked GIZA tokens (including time-weighted bonuses) determine voting power.
- Council Execution: The Security Council implements changes approved by Snapshot votes, maintaining a transparent record of all actions.
This process ensures community input shapes protocol direction while maintaining operational efficiency and security during the critical early stages.
